Shadow Board attend Lakes College Employer's Fair to promote AppFit
“Members of our Shadow Board attended the Lakes College Employers Fair last week promoting AppFit which is an event that provides young people with advice and guidance on the application process for apprenticeships.
BECBC first supported AppFit in January 2020 and is supporting the event again this year, exacts dates to be announced in the coming weeks. AppFits focus is getting the right people into the right apprenticeships by attempting to remove the barrier the application process can be for some young people. Keep a eye on our social media channels for how you can get involved.”
With presentations from Sizewell C, the Key Delivery Partners from Project and Programme Partners, Indelible Data and our wonderful egg timers this is an event not to be missed!
Professional Services Group meeting 28th April at Lakes College-what happened?
“I wasn’t sure what
I could add, as I don’t employ anyone, but the meeting was dead good, so glad I
attended and there’s always something you can learn, and knowledge and
experience you can share with other members”
This was the feedback from one attendee who wasn't sure whether
to attend the meeting. We initially held an open round the table discussion
focused on the difficulty to attract, engage, and recruit talent, across
professional service sectors, with specific examples from a couple of the
member businesses in the room. We then split up into small working groups to
share ideas and potential solutions.
The outcomes were some great tips for businesses from those
members that operate in the recruitment industry in how businesses need to
respect the interview process. We also agreed some practical ways forward:
1. To form a working group to develop a marketing guide to share
with the wider BECBC membership on how businesses should take a good look at
themselves and ensure their message, brand is not just attractive to potential
candidates, but conveys their values and portrays what it’s like to work for
them.
2. As a sub cluster to further develop the Professional Services
Group profile online and support each others’ businesses when it comes to
recruitment and other business challenges.
Keep an eye out for further details on the BECBC website
Professional Services Group page and posts on the forum. If you wish to be
involved in the Professional Services Group, do contact Dianne or myself and
look out for meeting details for our next session during July. Should you have
any major business challenges and wish to share, this subject could then be
brought to the table at our next meeting.
