...how to vote for our BECBC Rising Star Award 2022, about our upcoming meetings, the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Nuclear Energy 5 step plan, member news from Go Low Carbon and member focus with Lakes Electric Delivery Service.
Our Rising Star category is unusual for two reasons-it's the only one that's for an individual not a company and it's not a judges decision who wins-it's a member vote! Please take time to read the submissions and choose your Rising Star. Only BECBC member company votes will be counted and there is one vote per member company so there's no advantage for individuals working for larger employers. The vote will close at noon on 4th April and the winner will be announced at the AGM on the 6th April.
The Net Zero group will be back in the room on Thursday Hydrogen CHP with Ian Forsyth, The Business of Sustainability – aligning financial wealth with planetary health with Ryan Park from Go Low Carbon and how SMEs are key in the transition to net zero with Mike Siddall from University of Cumbria. Thank you to University of Cumbria for sponsoring this meeting.
We're delighted to announce that Martin Chown, CEO of Sellafield, will be our keynote speaker at our AGM. We will hold our AGM with new Director announcements and a panel discussion on the new structure BECBC has been operating under since July 2021. The panel will consist of the new chair of the cluster following Ivan Baldwin standing down as chair, Dianne Richardson as CEO, Tom Scaife as Legal Director and Andrew Clitheroe as Finance Director. Don't forget after booking a venue ticket you can revisit the events page to make yourself available for introductions and choose up to three people you'd like to meet during networking.
This one-day event is kindly supported by James Fisher Nuclear, Morgan Sindall, NSG Environmental and Rolls – Royce SMR and will bring together the industry to look at the nuclear sector from strategy through to delivery. We will touch on multiple areas of the civil nuclear sector including the political landscape, New build (large and small), decommissioning, fusion and Hydrogen aiming for companies to find out real opportunities in the industry. The event will be followed later that day by the Northwest Nuclear Institute dinner which will be held at the same venue.
