Shape the future of BECBC- Director role opens as Peter Fleming steps down
NEW leadership opportunities have opened up at Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) as Peter Fleming steps down as director and lead of the Professional Services Group.
As Peter approaches the end of his tenure, a director position is now open, offering a unique chance for an ambitious business leader to influence the future of BECBC and represent the voice of the energy sector within the county. Elections for the vacant role will take place 24th March – 18th April with the successor announced at BECBC’s AGM in April, and applications are currently open.
Peter first engaged with BECBC in February 2015, just two months into launching his own business. Over the years, he became a key figure in shaping the Professional Services Group, fostering collaboration among members and helping businesses grow through shared expertise and networking. His contributions as a director since 2018 have been instrumental in ensuring SME representation at board level and driving the strategic direction of BECBC.
Reflecting on his time, Peter emphasised the invaluable role BECBC plays in the business community: “BECBC is a powerful platform for making connections, developing businesses, and influencing the regional economy. It has been a privilege to be part of this journey, and I encourage others to seize the opportunity to step up and contribute.”
Stepping into the leadership of the Professional Services Group is IT specialist Connor Fish, who brings fresh energy and a passion for collaboration. With eight years at David Allen IT Solutions, Connor has built strong business relationships and is eager to drive the group forward.
“Cumbria is home to a wealth of fantastic companies, and the Professional Services Group exists to help us work together—not just within the county but beyond, forging relationships that bring new opportunities into the region,” Connor said. “BECBC has played a major role in my professional journey, and I’m excited to continue expanding the group, strengthening connections, and creating opportunities for growth.”
BECBC members and those interested in learning more about the cluster’s activities are invited to the upcoming Professional Services Showcase on 12th March at Energus, Workington from 8:45 AM. The event will highlight the depth of professional expertise within the region and provide a platform for collaboration and networking.
Peter will continue to support Connor during the transition and remains a strong advocate for BECBC’s mission. “BECBC has given me so much, and I want to see it continue to thrive,” he added. “For anyone considering stepping into a leadership role, I can’t recommend highly enough putting yourself forward for election as a Director- it’s a rewarding and impactful experience.”
