The Finance Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, ensuring compliance with UK regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving business performance and growth.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the finance team, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Provide financial guidance and analysis to senior management to support decision- making processes
  • Oversee budgeting and forecasting processes, including the preparation of monthly management accounts and cash flow forecasts
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing strategies to optimize financial results
  • Manage relationships with banks, corporate accountants, auditors, tax authorities, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements, including tax, VAT, and payroll regulations.
  • Identify and mitigate financial risks and implement effective risk management strategies


Qualifications and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA). Experience within manufacturing business is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong technical accounting skills
  • Excellent knowledge of financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Ability to develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Knowledge of tax, VAT, and payroll regulations
  • Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment


Job Type and Place of Work

  • Full-time (40 hours a week on nine-day fortnight)
  • Workington
