McMenon employee hailed as a manufacturing hero
McMenon Engineering Services Ltd is delighted to announce that one of its longest serving employees has been hailed as one of the heroes of UK manufacturing.
McMenon’s QHSE & Facilities Manager Peter Gresty was announced among The Manufacturer Top 100 for 2022.
Those named in The Manufacturer Top 100 are recognised as the most dynamic leaders and innovators in manufacturing, as nominated by The Manufacturer’s 265,000-strong audience, the wider industrial community, and judged by a panel featuring leaders of industry, academic institutions and manufacturing associations.
Peter was named as an exemplar figure among the 100 – standing out during the judging process and earning the special recognition.
He was nominated in the Unsung Hero category for his expertise and experience ad the quiet way he goes about his role, earning respect from all.
His nomination highlighted the fact that he has spent all his working life supporting the manufacture of steel instrumentation components, from small batch items to large complex instruments, up to 10 tons in weight.
He has worked his way up through the industry from serving his apprenticeship as a machinist, to becoming foreman/team leader. He then moved into engineering planning and supporting sales.
Peter secured and supported a number of large global expansion projects and was then responsible for helping to successfully increasing apprentice numbers and transfer vital key knowledge in the role of operations/manufacturing lead.
The most recent iteration of Peter’s career sees him using his vast knowledge to head up the Quality and Health and Safety area of McMenon, implementing new inspection and HSE regimes. He has helped overcome many of the obstacles that both Brexit and Covid threw in the company’s path and is an invaluable asset to McMenon.
The biggest compliment comes from McMenon CEO Anand Puthran, who said: “Peter knows more about the Workington factory than any other and I sleep better at night knowing Peter is in charge.
“Whilst supporting the business and the huge volume of engineers that have worked with Peter over the years, he continues to carry out his duties in manner that gains him the utmost respect from his work colleagues.”
