First contractor call for £80bn Government mega-framework
The government is putting contractors on alert for a construction framework worth up to £80bn.
A contract notice is due to be published in January and the Crown Commercial Service said “the buyer is not yet ready to invite bid applications but early notification has been provided and some dialogue may be possible.”
Contractors interested in attending a market engagement session can express their interest by emailing construction@crowncommercial.gov.uk no later than midday on Friday 13th December.
The Construction Works and Associated Services including Healthcare and Offsite Solutions framework will run from October 2026 until October 2034 and be worth up to £80bn.
It will cover construction work across all government departments including health, education, culture, media and sport, local communities and housing, defence and security, government policy and infrastructure.
The current construction works framework contains most of the industry’s biggest names and was estimated to be worth £30bn when it was launched in 2019.
The notice added: “A formal lotting structure will follow the commencement of further market engagement with further consideration to value, location and sectors.”
