Delkia launches graduate scheme to inspire the next generation of engineers

Applications are now open for an ambitious graduate scheme, designed to inspire and mentor the UK’s next generation of leading engineers.

Specialist engineering and technology company Delkia have seen rapid growth in recent years with a large volume of contract wins across all sectors and a host of new team members. The company – which has offices in Cumbria, Lancashire, and a new production facility opening in Merseyside in April – specialises in safety-related and mission-critical systems in aerospace, clean energy and maritime sectors.

They are pleased to have now launched their very own graduate scheme and aim to recruit up to six talented graduate engineers to join their growing team this summer.

The Delkia Engineering Graduate Scheme is a structured programme designed for recent engineering graduates looking to build a long-term career in the nuclear and defence sectors. Prospective candidates could have completed a Doctorate, Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in any engineering or related disciplines, such as aerospace, electrical, mechanical, systems and software engineering, or technical project management.

Over the course of the scheme’s two years, graduates will gain hands-on experience, technical expertise and professional development opportunities in a real-world setting, while contributing to some of the most complex and critical engineering projects happening in the UK right now.

They will spend six months in each of Delkia’s four main business areas: Nuclear, Maritime, Mission Systems, and Research & Development, allowing them to develop a broad skill set and understand how the different disciplines interact. Alongside comprehensive formal training sessions, they will contribute to live projects – applying theoretical knowledge to real engineering challenges.

At every step of the way they will receive expert coaching and mentoring from Delkia’s experienced professionals, preparing them to become the sector leaders of tomorrow. They will also receive support and guidance towards gaining professional accreditation and industry-recognised qualifications, including Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Graduate scheme members are fixed term employees of the Delkia Group and benefit from the usual terms and conditions of employment, including a competitive starting salary and salary progression, holiday allowance and pension contribution.

Graduates will have regular performance reviews with their dedicated mentor and will be assessed on individual and group projects over the two years. Following successful completion of the scheme, graduate engineers will be promoted to the position of Alumni Engineer at Delkia.

Kurt Canfield, CEO, said: “The Delkia Group prides itself on being a company that puts our people first. This means our culture, values and behaviours are keenly focused towards enhancing our people and providing opportunities for growth and progression. Solving today’s problems will make a better tomorrow so we need to ensure that we are ready, willing and able. The Delkia Engineering Graduate Scheme is a culmination of our culture and values and will be our flagship development initiative for many years to come.”

Applications are now open for The Delkia Engineering Graduate Scheme 2025 and will close on 1 May.
