Community Nuclear Power
Community Nuclear Power
On the back of the Community Nuclear Power’s announcement of their first Small Module Reactors (SMRs) being deployed in North Tees, Prima Uno team is excited to be working with Community Nuclear Power (CNP) with this first deployment of SMRs in the UK. Community Nuclear Power have teamed up with Westinghouse to build four SMR AP300 on the site at Teesside. This is fully privately funded project, with no cost or risk to the UK taxpayer.
The Teesside hub is expected to create thousands of new jobs, working in and to support the new companies that invest there. That is in addition to the thousand or so jobs needed to run the SMR site. This is why it is the mission of Prima Uno and CNP to start growing our own young professionals as soon as possible as it is important and integral to the success of our project. These new professionals will be equipped with the skills and knowledge to work on the SMR projects on site and around the world.
Prima Uno provide project controls and associated services across high regulated and major projects across the UK. We have rolled out centre of excellences across the UK including Cumbria, Warrington and now Thurso. Our centres of excellence are currently being rolled out across the rest of the UK and will have a base at the Teesside hub.
Prima Uno will be opening an office in Teesside to accommodate our people but most importantly to open a training centre of excellence for project controls and project management mirroring the ones in Cumbria, Warrington and Thurso to start training local people with the skills needed for this new sector. There will also be an opportunity for trainees across many disciplines. We will be working with communities and like-minded companies to enable social and economic transformation through a surplus of clean energy for new industry. We will be leaving a legacy and a footprint in the local areas of every site we work at.
There will be direct jobs and supply chains created to construct and operate the site, as well as jobs and business opportunities for the related services that support the jobs associated with the construction of the SMRs. This will support the UK’s drive for economic growth in the regions as well as its Net Zero ambitions.
Prima Uno will be looking to support developing a new industry norm database, provide support with estimating, planning, cost engineering and risk management activities as well as supporting the set up of the programme management office and related project and programme management services.
We want to plan and progress the works with cutting edge and innovative technologies such as Line of Sight, AI in project controls, forensic planning and critical path analysis and 4D planning.
Prima Uno Managing Director Sarah Purdham said: “We are beyond excited about working with the team at Community Nuclear Power. For our people, supply chain and new trainees coming into Prima Uno they will have a chance of working on a first of its kind project which will be part of history. Working on this project will also enable us to continue our mission in growing our own people located to sites where all of our projects are in the UK. This is wonderful news for Teesside, the UK and globally. It is an honour for me to be part of this and I know the people at Prima Uno feel the same”.
Prima Uno will be enlisting some of our subject matter experts across the UK who have worked on major projects across the world to ensure this project runs to cost, time and schedule.
All the trainees and professionals from Prima Uno, CNP, Westinghouse and our supply chain working on this project will have the chance to work on a historic and first of a kind project as well as lay the foundation for this new sector using best practice methods and best in class systems.
We are actively looking for project controls, assurance, subject matter experts, programme managers, project managers, P3M3 professionals across the UK to work on our long-term major projects across the UK. We are also looking for dynamic people to join our apprenticeship, graduate and trainee schemes across the UK. Prima Uno is moving into larger premises to facilitate the intake of extra trainees, apprentices, graduates and employees in Cumbria.
