Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster and Primary Business Partnership launch 20th Anniversary Celebration with Primary School Art competition
Britain’s Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) this week launches its 20th anniversary celebration with the first of a series of year-round business and community events. The first anniversary event has been organised in conjunction with Primary Business Partnership (PBP). The activity has been sponsored by Sunbelt Rentals and invites primary school children to participate in an art competition answering the question:
“Where will I be working in 20 years?
The competition is open to all primary school children in the area and is sponsored by Sunbelt Rentals who will be awarding prizes you cannot buy – including a school engagement session complete with diggers, dumpers, and other exciting equipment to explore! A team of six Sunbelt Rentals employees will also support a day of volunteering at your school, to help you with any gardening, painting & decorating type projects you may have. More details and a flyer can be downloaded from www.primarybusinesspartnership.org.uk. Entries can be posted to: Rebecca Day, PBP, Town Hall, 1st Floor, Market Street, Cockermouth, CA13 9NP or emailed to: rebecca.day@pbp.org.uk.
This launch event will be followed by other activities for secondary students, apprentices, graduates and youth groups, always in collaboration with BECBC member businesses. In addition, BECBC members will be laying on several ‘Dinners for 20’ during which they will raise money for local charities. The anniversary will also be marked with a Barbecue Celebration in the summer for all BECBC members and their families. Businesses who would like to find out more about the business cluster and how to join, can contact BECBC via enquiries@becbusinesscluster.co.uk.
Dianne Richardson, CEO of BECBC, explains: “BECBC has been part of the business environment in Cumbria and the wider North for two decades. As such our members have always placed great value on engaging and giving back to the wider community. It is important to us to be active members in our society.”
“Primary Business Partnership is delighted to partner with BECBC through the art competition and to support Sunbelt Rentals in promoting and coordinating this exciting opportunity to win this wonderful prize whilst encouraging children to explore future careers. We cannot wait to see all the entries. Celebrating BECBC’s 20th birthday in this way is fantastic and really underlines how involved the cluster and its members are in supporting the aspirations of primary school students here in Cumbria.", says Rebecca Day, Project Coordinator for the Primary Business Partnership
BECBC’s 20-Year History
Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC) was born in 2003, when six companies based in West Cumbria and part of Sellafield's Supply Chain came together to have regular monthly meetings to stay informed about what was happening in West Cumbria and to do business together. These aims have stayed at the heart of what we do as we weathered the storms of the credit crunch in 2008-9, watched members support the work at Chernobyl and Fukishima and grew into an organisation with over 250 members involved in almost 30 sectors, at the heart of which is the nuclear energy sector.
