Why BECBC really is our Perfect Fit

In October 2023, we moved from Lancashire to West Cumbria, along with our two dogs, we also relocated our recruitment business.

For the latter part of 2023, I was kept very busy juggling the unpacking of boxes (and there were many) whilst continuing to work with our clients fulfilling their recruitment needs back in Lancashire / Greater Manchester.

At the start of 2024, with most of the boxes unpacked, I started to research Cumbrian businesses to determine what recruitment challenges businesses faced, where our service would fit and what we needed to "tweak".

Now, we are not your “standard” recruitment business, after almost 25 years in the recruitment space, I have seen both good and bad practice, so when I started the business back in 2014, I wanted to approach recruitment in a very different way, with our values being very high on the agenda, so it was really important to be able to identify those businesses who worked the way we did, enabling the Perfect Fit.

Via a chance meeting with a local businessman, I was signposted to Dianne Richardson of the Britain's Energy Coast Business Cluster (BECBC), we met for coffee and by the end of the day, I had joined BECBC as a Guest Member which Dianne suggested was the best way to get a feel for whether it suited what we needed.

To be honest, I thought it would be just another networking group, I was to find out very quickly that BECBC is much, much more than networking, it is about relationship building; learning; opportunities; trust and support.

I took advantage of events and meetings; I attended the BECBC AGM, the Professional Services Group, the Social Network Group and the Organisational Health and Well Being meeting to enable me to get a good feel for the members and the challenges they faced, I knew very quickly I had made the right decision, and we are now proud to be full members of BECBC and very much looking forward to bringing our unique style of recruitment to Cumbria.

The help, support, and kindness I have received from members, for me, is what makes this Group the place to be if you are in business in Cumbria (or even outside the county), everyone is made so welcome and I have quickly stopped feeling like an “incomer” and feel very much part of the BECBC family.
