Join us in celebrating National Manufacturing Day

Cumbria Chamber of Commerce is again celebrating National Manufacturing Day by holding 3 site tours with three different manufacturers.

Date: Thursday, 26th September 2024
Price: £15 +VAT (funds go back into business support delivery)
Venues: Kimberly Clark, McMenon Engineering or Appleby Creamery

Join us to celebrate National Manufacturing Day – we’re giving you the opportunity to visit a local manufacturing business, hear their story, view their facilities and network.

Kimberly Clark located at Park Road, Barrow in Furness, LA14 4TR – taking place from 1.45pm to 4pm

With a passion for creating essentials for a better life for people everywhere Kimberly Clark was driven to invent these five major consumer product categories: facial tissue, paper towels, toilet paper on a roll, feminine pads and disposable training pants.

Come see how they have been finding new ways to make peoples lives better since 1872.

McMenon Engineering located at Salterbeck Trading Estate, Workington, CA14 5DS taking place from 10am to 12noon

Appleby Creamery located at Unit 2 Cross Croft, Appleby in Westmorland, CA16 6HX taking place from 9am to 10am or 10.30am to 11.30am

Appleby Creamery produces a wide range of distinctive and characterful cheeses ranging from soft cheeses, such as blue, brie and smoked brie to hard varieties, including cheddar and caerphilly-style cheeses.

To increase their sustainability they have embarked on a project to reduce their reliance on both grid supplied electricity and lpg. Installing an array of solar panels on the Creamery roof that will provide a high percentage of electricity requirements, at peak it will generate 180kW and will be able to export up to 100kW of that green energy to the grid.
