Happy New Year-Director's Thoughts
As we step carefully into 2025 after all the uncertainty of the last few years we wanted to share some advice from our Board Directors on setting your business up for success in the New Year.
Ruth Sellick: ‘The BECBC community is open, friendly and passionate about doing business in Cumbria, so use it where you can. Do you have a new idea? A topic you’d like to discuss? Maybe a project or opportunity that you’d like to develop in collaboration with other businesses? BECBC is the ideal place to explore, connect and learn, so give it a try! You’re among friends.’
Peter Fleming:
"Just focus on being better at the basics".
Within your role and organisation you work for think about:
• Ensuring your communication is consistent, positive in tone (internally & externally).
• Ensuring you create time for your team, collectively and as individuals too.
• Ensuring you make time for yourself, to give you the head space and a break from the many distractions.

My one piece of advice is to attend as many meetings as you can and engage with the cluster. Even if the meeting topics aren’t something that affects you or your business personally the conversations that lead on from each meeting and the connections you make with other people attending really are invaluable and have personally helped grow my business.
James Harrison
“With all the work coming up for 2025 and beyond I would encourage every member to come along to meetings and sector groups as the supply chain is extremely important in delivery of these exciting new tasks ahead, even if you are not interested in winning the ‘big ticket contract’ your company may be pivotal in the delivery from a holistic point of view. And if you want the ‘big ticket contract’ there will be someone in the room who can enable the successful delivery of this collaboration delivers projects and no company is an island, diversity of the supply chain is key in these uncertain times.”
No surprise that collaboration and networking are key themes for all of them-that is after all what BECBC is about!
